Chickahominy Lake Fishing Report – February 19, 2014

Capt. Art Conway of Conway’s River Rat Guide Service (804-746-2475) out of Ed Allen’s Boats and Bait reported that Chickahominy Lake mid-day water temperatures were in the low 40’s in the lower and upper lake and in the mid 40’s up the major creeks on Wednesday (02/19/2014). The lake level was about 18 inches above the top of the dam. The water was very light brown and was very slightly cloudy in the central lower lake.

A few blue cats were in the lower lake winter holes. Crappies appeared to have left the winter holes, and a few had started appearing up the major creeks and were hitting live minnows. Pickerel and bass were on mid-depth wood cover and in the channels and on the deeper flats up the major creeks. Pickerel and bass were hitting live minnows, minnows on jigging spoons, blade baits, and suspending jerk baits.

Fishing with Capt. Conway, Capt. Bill Buck had 1 crappie, 2 yellow perch, 5 pickerel, and 3 bass.
