Capt. Art Conway of Conway’s River Rat Guide Service (804-746-2475) out of
Ed Allen’s Boats and Bait reported that after the dose of snow on Sunday,
Chickahominy Lake mid-day water temperatures were in the mid 40’s in the
lower and upper lake and had returned to the mid to high 40’s in the major
creeks on Wednesday. The lake level was a little less than a foot above the
top of the dam. The water was dark and a little cloudy but not muddy in the
lower lake. Fish activity had dropped off in the winter holes and up the
creeks. Crappies, bass, and pickerel will probably become active in the
major creeks over the next week, now that water temperatures are back up to
where they were last week.
