Capt. Art Conway of Conway’s River Rat Guide Service (804-746-2475) out of
Ed Allen’s Boats and Bait reported that Chickahominy Lake mid-day water
temperatures were in the mid to low 40’s in the lower lake and in the high
30’s in the upper lake on Wednesday. The lake level was about a foot above
the top of the dam. The water was dark but not muddy in the lower lake.
Crappie were scattered over the mid-depth channels throughout the lake and
were hitting Wright Bait Co. and Southern Pro one and two inch curly tail
grubs, tubes, blade baits, and live minnows. Fishing with Capt. Conway,
Hollis Pruitt and Malcolm Turnbull had 14 crappie and 2 bass.
