Chickahominy Lake Fishing Report – June 18,

Art Conway (804-514-1486) out of Ed Allen’s Boats and Bait reported that
Chickahominy Lake mid-day surface water was in the low to middle 80’s in
the lower region of the main lake and in the major creeks on Wednesday
(6/18/2025). The lake level was about 5 inches above the top of the
dam. The water was medium brown, clear to slightly murky in the upper 2
feet and murky below 3 feet due to an apparent layer of suspended
microscopic algae.

A few blue cats, channel cats, and bullheads were scattered on flats,
along drop-offs, and primarily in deeper regions of channels in the main
lake, but no large groups were observed. Small and medium crappies were
on wood cover near channel edges and were hitting minnows under bobbers
and occasionally hitting jigs. White perch were in loose schools
roaming flats and channel edges. Some bluegills and shellcrackers were
in creeks, but most appeared to have relocated to shorelines and flats
in the main lake. A few scattered pickerel and bass were in creek
channels or on flats.

Fishing with Art Conway, Luke and Scott Schafer caught 45 bluegills and
7 shellcrackers on worms on one trip, and 61 bluegills, 2 shellcrackers,
and 1 yellow perch on lures on a second trip. Jerry Davis caught 54
bluegills and 2 shellcrackers on flies. Tom Porter and Sandra Rothrock
caught 1 bluegill, 7 crappies, 8 white perch, and 1 chain pickerel.
