Chickahominy Lake Fishing Report – June 4, 2

Art Conway (804-514-1486) out of Ed Allen’s Boats and Bait reported that
Chickahominy Lake mid-day surface water was in the low to middle 70’s in
the lower region of the main lake and in the major creeks on Wednesday
(6/4/2025). The lake level was about 6 inches above the top of the dam.
The water was medium brown, slightly to moderately murky in the upper 2
feet due to muddy run-off, and murky below 3 feet due to an apparent
layer of suspended microscopic algae.

A few blue cats, channel cats, and bullheads were still scattered on
flats, along drop-offs, and primarily in deeper regions of channels in
the main lake, but no large groups were observed. Small and medium
crappies were accumulating on wood cover near channel edges and were
hitting minnows under bobbers and occasionally hitting jigs. White
perch were in loose schools roaming flats and channel edges. Some
bluegills and shellcrackers were in creeks, but most appeared to have
relocated to shorelines and flats in the main lake. A few scattered
pickerel and bass were in creek channels or on flats.

Fishing with Art Conway, David Ross caught 25 crappies, 2 white perch,
and 3 largemouth bass. Garry Kwist and Steve Haley caught 48 bluegills,
3 shellcrackers, 1 crappie, and 3 largemouth bass, all on fly rods. Tom
Porter caught 14 bluegills, 4 shellcrackers, 16 crappies, and 3 white
perch.
